Atlanta Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression: Protesting is not a Crime! Don’t Charge Rick Toledo!

On March 6th in the dead of night, University of Cal Poly Humbolt police raided the home of student activist & grad student Rick Toledo. He was then arrested , held in jail for 2 days and is now facing bogus charges including false imprisonment, conspiracy to commit a crime, assault, & battery. Just days before the raid and arrest Toledo was suspended and fired from his university teaching job.

All this comes after Toledo supported a one day building occupation done by students on Feb 27th calling for the university to divest from Israeli bonds and sanctuary policies to keep ICE off of campus.

These politically motivated attacks by both the state of California and Cal Poly Humboldt against Toledo are just another instance in a long pattern of repression used to silence the voices of students, workers and faculty all across the country who courageously stand up for Gaza.

The Atlanta Alliance Against Racist & Political Repression stands with Rick Toledo and his First Amendment right to protest for Palestine! We condemn this arrest, the university crackdown, and the threat of these criminal charges against Toledo!

Protesting is not a crime and we all must dare to struggle in order to protect our right to take a stand against injustice everywhere!
