Solidarity Statement from the Committee for Palestinian Rights

Just as it did in the 1960s to the Civil Rights and antiwar movements and the 1980s to the Central America anti-intervention movement — to name just two examples — the FBI is again targeting U.S. activists who are engaged in Constitutionally protected activities to try to stop war crimes, human rights violations, and other illegal and immoral behavior on the part of the U.S. government and others.

The Committee for Palestinian Rights deplores these FBI actions. We agree with the words of Martin Luther King Jr., who in 1966 said: “We are in a dangerous period when we seek to silence dissent.” Palestinian rights activists, and others engaged in similar activities, are not dangerous criminals. The FBI is not protecting the people of the United States by targeting us.
