FBI attempts to question Chicago international solidarity activists. Don’t talk to FBI!
On November 15, three FBI agents came to the Chicago home of an international solidarity
AlliantACTION, a group committed to nonviolent opposition of the manufacture and sale of indiscriminate weapons, deplores the recent actions taken by the FBI in Minneapolis in the attempt to silence and intimidate principled nonviolent peace activists under the guise of fighting the so-called “War on Terror." The use of house raids coupled with Grand Jury subpoenas was heavy-handed and designed to “send a message." The message we received is one that proclaims “Do not question your government."
When law enforcement and the Grand Jury system are used in this fashion to quell nonviolent dissent, we are all made less safe in our society. It is crucial to our democracy that government agencies not restrict our First Amendment freedoms to openly criticize the actions and policies of our government when done in a nonviolent manner.
We call on our elected and appointed officials to end this harassment of peace groups and antiwar activists immediately and instead direct their energies to ending war and preparations for war.
