NAARPR Says: Drop the Charges on Minneapolis Anti-ICE Protesters! Protesting ICE Is Not a Crime!

The Committee to Stop FBI Repression is circulating this call from the National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression:

The National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression condemns the DOJ’s arrest of activists, including Nekima Levy Armstrong, Chantyll Allen, and William Kelly for protesting against ICE. These arrests are nothing more than an attempt to silence community members, who speak out against ICE. Two of them, Nekima Armstrong and Chantyll Allen, are well-known African American activists in the Twin Cities.

While ICE commander David Easterwood hides behind the pulpit, the agency he works for kidnaps residents, uses chemical weapons, and kills with impunity. Now, instead of charging ICE agent Jonathan Ross for executing Renee Good, the DOJ prioritizes arresting and prosecuting peaceful protesters, showing the world that the Trump administration is an enemy to all who resist ICE repression, and defense of those targeted is a necessity for us to maintain our right to protest. This is an escalation that is cheered on by Trump and his allies that seeks to criminalize the people’s movements.

WE DEMAND:

  1. Drop all charges against the arrested activists, charge Renee Good’s killer instead.
  2. End the weaponization of the DOJ against peaceful protestors.
  3. End the raids; ICE out of our cities.

We call on all partner organizations to join us and stand in solidarity with Nekima Levy Armstrong, Chantyll Allen, and William Kelly demand their charges be dropped.

Protesting is not a crime! Drop the charges now!
