On June 12th, Los Angeles-based community activist Alejandro Orellana was arrested by the FBI on trumped-up charges of “conspiracy to commit criminal disorders.” Orellana, who organizes with Centro CSO in the city, has been a prominent immigrants’ rights activist, and we see this attack for what it really is: an instance of both racial and political repression to punish both Alejandro and the community for engaging in their basic democratic rights to free speech and protest against ICE, who have been terrorizing immigrant communities in LA and around the country.
We know that the charges are bogus. We know that Alejandro did nothing wrong. And we stand in solidarity with him and everyone else who experiences political repression at the hands of the US government.
If you have time, please call U.S. Attorney Bilal Essayli at 213-894-2400 and tell him to drop the charges!
Drop the charges! ICE out of everywhere! Community Control of the Police now!
